Saudi Arabia Celebrates Its Founding Day

On February 22nd, Saudi Arabia celebrates its founding day. This day marks the establishment of the Kingdom by Prince Mohammed bin Saud in 1727, who laid the foundation for a great nation three centuries ago in its capital, Diriyah.

Prince Mohammed bin Saud was a visionary leader who studied the conditions of his Emirate and the surrounding Emirates, especially in the Arabian Peninsula. He began planning for change from the prevailing style during those days and laid a new path in the region's history, representing unity, education, culture dissemination, enhancing communication among society members, and maintaining security. He was also fond of contemplation and reflection, which indicates his character in extrapolation, deliberation, and future vision.

Who is Prince Mohammed bin Saud?

Prince Mohammed bin Saud bin Mohammed bin Muqrin was born in 1679 in Diriyah, where he grew up and was known for multiple traits, such as piety, goodwill, courage, and the ability to influence. He also gained experience in his youth when he worked with his father to organize the emirate's affairs, which gave him a complete understanding of all its conditions. He also participated in defending Diriyah when Saadun bin Mohammed, the leader of the Bani Khalid in Al-Ahsa, invaded it, and they resisted and defeated the attacking army.

Prince Mohammed bin Saud was an extension of his ancestors' history, who built and ruled Diriyah. He took power in exceptional conditions in February 1727, as Diriyah suffered from weakness and division due to various reasons, and the spread of the plague on the Arabian Peninsula during that period caused the death of many people.

Despite all these challenges, Prince Mohammed bin Saud managed to overcome them, unite Diriyah, and contribute to stability in the Al-Arid region. The first Saudi state was founded, unified, and built during his reign in forty years. His most notable achievements during the period from 1727 to 1745 include the unification of the two parts of Diriyah and making it under one rule after it was divided into two centers, as well as focusing on internal affairs and enhancing the state's military power.

In conclusion, Prince Mohammed bin Saud played a pivotal role in establishing the first Saudi state and laying the foundation for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His leadership, vision, and ability to overcome challenges set an example for future leaders, making him an important historical figure in the region's history. The anniversary of the Kingdom's founding is a reminder of the sacrifices and achievements of Prince Mohammed bin Saud and the generations that followed him, who contributed to the prosperity and development of Saudi Arabia.
